Maharashtra: Anil Deshmukh Reveals Reason Behind Transfer Of Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh

The Home Minister said “this is not an administrative transfer”. Deshmukh, who was speaking at an event organised by Lokmat newspaper and aired by ABP Majha news channel, added some things have come to light through the probes conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Thursday said Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh was transferred after some of his colleagues’ committed “serious and unforgivable mistakes”. The Home Minister expressed that “this is not an administrative transfer”.

Home Minister Anil Deshmukh also said the removal of Mumbai Police Commissioner was done to ensure the probe against police officer Sachin Vaze is conducted “properly and without hindrance”.

Deshmukh added some things have come to light through the probes conducted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).

“Some of the colleagues of the (former) Mumbai police chief (Singh) committed some serious mistakes. Those are unforgivable mistakes. Hence, he was transferred. Further action will be taken based on the probe report,” he added.

The Home Minister further said the Maharashtra ATS and the NIA are “professionally”, conducting the probe into the incident, adding action will be taken against whoever is found guilty in the respective probes.

“The NIA and ATS are conducting the probe professionally. They will definitely find out whoever is guilty,” he said while responding to the allegations levelled by the BJP and MNS.

Param Bir Singh, who was transferred to the Home Guard and replaced by the state’s Acting Director General of Police Hemant Nagrale, was under fire over the handling of the bomb scare outside Mukesh Ambani's house Antilia.

This followed the arrest of assistant police inspector Sachin Vaze by the NIA on March 13 over its probe into the recovery of an explosives-laden SUV near Ambani’s residence on February 25. Waze was suspended post his arrest.
