Maharashtra Covid-19 Tally Surges Past China's With 85,975 Cases; 91 New Deaths Reported

On whole, the number of Coronavirus positive cases has risen to 2,56,611 in India. On the other hand, 7200 people have died of the novel COVID-19.

Mumbai: Maharashtra continues to be the state with the highest concentration of Coronavirus cases in India. As per the latest updates, the state recorded as many as 3,007 new COVID-19 cases today, taking the tally to 85,975. It also reported 91 fatalities taking the state’s death toll to 3,060. With this, Maharashtra had surpassed China's COVID-19 tally of 83,036 confirmed cases on Monday, June 8. The first positive case in Mumbai was tested on 9th March. Since then, a total of more than 48,774 are from the country's commercial capital Mumbai alone. The city has registered  1638 deaths till now. Mumbai's biggest slum area Dharavi had emerged as the coronavirus hotspot during the initial phase of the lockdown but has not recorded a single death related to the coronavirus disease in the last six days and 939 of the 1,899 patients have recovered so far, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials have said. On whole, the number of Coronavirus positive cases has risen to 2,56,611 in India. On the other hand, 7200 people have died of the novel COVID-19. More than 1 lakh have been successfully treated due to Coronavirus whereas 1,24,981 are still struggling as they try to defeat Coronavirus. India now ranks sixth in terms of global ranking when it comes to confirmed cases of Covid-19. Despite the surging active cases, the death toll in India remains under control. The Union health ministry of India has said that country's recovery rate stands at 47.99 per cent with total of 1,24,094 patients reporting to have recovered from the disease till date.
