Maharashtra's Covid-19 Tally Breaches 90,000-Mark With 2,259 New Cases; Death Toll Climbs To 3,289
These numbers are expected to spike further as the Central and state governments have eased a lot of restrictions under the Unlock-1 or the fifth phase lockdown.
Mumbai: Maharashtra has crossed the 90 thousand-mark for Covid-19 cases as the state recorded 2,259 new cases on Tuesday, pushing the tally to 90,787. On Monday, the state had recorded 2,553 new cases. ALSO READ | Dharavi Witnesses Drop In Covid-19 Cases, Shows Signs Of Flattening The Curve
The state health department reported that the total number of active cases in the state is now 44,849. As far as the fatalities are concerned, the state witnessed 120 deaths today. With this, the death tally has raced to 3,289 while 42,638 have been recovered and discharged from hospitals.
State capital Mumbai also registered spike in corona cases on Tuesday. Municipal Corporation Greater Mumbai reported that the financial capital recorded at least 58 COVID-deaths and 1,015 new Corona positive patients.
Amid the surging numbers, it has been noted that Asia's largest slum, Dharavi situated in Mumbai has reported no new death due to the novel coronavirus in last week. In fact, 41 per cent of patients have recovered here. People were being continously screened to combat coronavirus. Meanwhile, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) earlier today announced amendments for extension of lockdown and issued revised guidelines in respect to easing of restrictions and phase-wise opening of economic activities. As per the latest circular, BMC has allowed all markets, market areas, and shops to open for the full working hours from Monday to Saturday, except market complexes and malls. However, BMC said that the shops and markets on one side of the road will open on one day, while those on the other side will open the next day. ALSO READ | SHOCKING!
