BJP MP Narayan Rane Meets Maharashtra Governor, Demands Imposition Of President's Rule In State

BJP MP Narayan Rane has met Governor BS Koshiyari and has demanded for an imposition of President's rule in the state, while slamming the MVA government for its "failure" in saving the state.

New Delhi: As the number of Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra surged past 50,000 mark, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Narayan Rane has alerted Governor BS Koshyari of the situation in the state and has demanded imposition of President’s rule. Rane met the Governor on Monday and apprised him of the “failure” of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government of Shiv Sena, NCP ad the Congress, in tackling the Covid-19 situation in the state. Talking to reporters, Rane said that the MVA government under Uddhav Thackeray, has ‘messed up’ the administrative affairs in the time of the unprecedented crisis. "This government lacked the capacity to run a government. Maharashtra should be put under President's rule. The governor should step in," he was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.  He also slammed the government over the “pathetic” condition of the hospitals of the states. Terming Uddhav Thackeray as ‘inexperienced’ CM, he said that the military should take charge of the functions of healthcare to improve the situation at this front. The number of cases have been increasing alarmingly in the state.  So far it has reported 52,667 cases and 1,695 deaths, which is the highest for any Indian state. It is the first state to demand additional troops from Centre to tackle the law and order situation amid Covid-19 outbreak, earlier this month. It sought 20 companies of central forces in the city, for which it even got a green signal from the central government. Maharashtra has also sought help of Kerala for the healthcare front its battle against Covid-19. It has asked the state government to send a team of doctors and nurses to Maharashtra on a temporary basis. Maharashtra Directorate of Medical Education and Research  has written a letter requesting Kerala govt to send 50 Doctors and 100 nurses after there was a voluntary offer from Kerala.
