MP: Police Recover Wads Of Banknotes From Man's House In Bhopal, Counting Underway

Madhya Pradesh: The police on Friday recovered several wads of banknotes from the house of a 38-year-old man named Kailash Khatri at Bhopal's Pant Nagar Colony. According to the police, the man claims to be involved in the business of money exchange for the last 18 years.

Following this, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bhopal Zone-1, Priyanka Shukla told news agency ANI: "A large amount of cash has been recovered from the residence of 38-year-old Kailash Khatri. He says that he has been working in the line of money exchange for the last 18 years under which he collects damaged notes in the denomination of Rs 5, Rs 10 and Rs 20, collects his commission and provides new notes to customers."
the DCP further stated that the wads of currency notes that have been recovered from the man's house are both damaged notes and new notes.
"He has not provided any document as per which he is authorised to do so. So, action is still underway," DCP Shukla added.
The Income Tax Department has also been informed about the money recovered during the search. DCP Shukla told ANI that the Income Tax Department has said that if the cash recovered amounts to more than Rs 10 lakhs, they will take cognisance of it.
The counting of the multiple wads of banknotes is currently underway.
