MP minister Balkrishna Patidar says 'who doesn't commit suicide' over farmers' suicide
"Who doesn’t commit suicide? Traders, IAS and IPS officers also commit suicide. It is a global problem," he said.
New Delhi: At a time when Madhya Pradesh if grappling with rise in incidents of suicide among state farmers, MP Balkrishna Patidar has sparked controversy with his insensitive remarks on farmers’ suicide.
Patidar who is the state agriculture minister, has said that suicide is a global problem and the reason behind it is only contained with the person committing it.
He said “who doesn’t commit suicide? Traders, IAS and IPS officers also commit suicide. It is a global problem.”
“The person who commits suicide only knows what forced him to do so, the rest of us just indulge in assumptions.”
The remarks by Balkrishna Patidar have drawn widespread criticism.
The controversy has sparked at a time when Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is putting efforts in wooing farmers and labourers.
