'Perhaps I Didn't...': MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra On Losing From Datia Seat

Home Minister and BJP leader Narottam Mishra, who lost to Congress's candidate in Datia constituency, said the people's mandate should be accepted.

Following his defeat in the Datia constituency in the Madhya Pradesh election, outgoing Home Minister and BJP leader Narottam Mishra the decision taken by the people was always right, ANI reported. Speaking to party workers, Mishra, who is known for his controversial remarks, said the people's mandate should be accepted.

Although BJP secured a thumping victory in Madhya Pradesh, winning 163 of the 230 seats, Mishra lost the Datia assembly constituency to Congress' Bharti Rajendra by a margin of 7,742 votes. While Mishra managed to gather 81,235 votes, Bharti Rajendra secured 88,977 votes from the constituency.

"I want to express my gratitude to the people of Datia and the entire state. It's crucial to respect the decision made by the people. The choices made by the people are always right. Perhaps I didn't serve the people of Datia well enough, and that's why they opted for someone else. Maybe the new representative will work towards the betterment of the people of Datia, providing improved healthcare for the poor and ensuring access to water and electricity in villages. This is probably what everyone had in mind," ANI quoted Mishra as saying.

He added, "We should accept this and allow the people their space. Failure presents a challenge, and we must acknowledge it. Reflecting on our mistakes and understanding where we went wrong is crucial."
