Lotus Blooms In SP Stronghold As BJP’s Ghanshyam Lodhi Wins Rampur Bypoll
Lodhi, who recently joined the BJP, said the saffron party “has always been working for development of the public”.
New Delhi: In a major setback to the Samajwadi Party in its stronghold, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi won the Lok Sabha bypoll in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur by a margin of over 42,000 votes on Sunday. “I dedicate my victory to the workers of the party. They have been working continuously day and night. I want to thank the people of Rampur,” news agency Asian News International (ANI) quoted Lodhi as saying.
Lodhi, who recently joined the BJP, said the saffron party “has always been working for development of the public”.
BJP national general secretary BL Santhosh said the party has won the Rampur Lok Sabha by-election by 37,797 votes.
“The death knell to communal, divisive, minority appeasement politics. The mandate for ‘politics of vikas’ practiced by PM Narendra Modi ably assisted by CM Yogi Adityanath,” he added.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak expressed his delight with the BJP’s victory in Rampur and said the people are sick and tired of the Samajwadi Party.

“We have won in Rampur. We are also ahead of others in Azamgarh. I would like to thank the voters who are handing us this victory based on PM Modi's numerous welfare schemes and the performance of the CM,” said Pathak.
“The people are sick and tired of the Samajwadi Party. The people don’t want any more riots. They want peace. They want development,” he added.
The Rampur Lok Sabha seat fell vacant post veteran Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan’s resignation after he was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
The Samajwadi Party had fielded Asim Raja from Rampur, while the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) did not contest.
