Background
Lok Sabha Security Breach Live: In a major security breach inside the Lok Sabha on Wednesday on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, two people jumped from the audience gallery into the chamber and hurled gas cannisters. The incident led to panic and the Lok Sabha was adjourned. The two people have been detained.
Meanwhile, outside the Parliament complex, two people, including a woman, fired some colour bombs while holding a demonstration. They were also detained by police.
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said two persons jumped from the public gallery into Lok Sabha chamber and were overpowered by members.
Chowdhury, leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, speaking on the incident, said, "Two young men jumped from the gallery and something was hurled by them from which gas was emitting. They were caught by MPs and were brought out by security personnel. This is certainly a security breach because today we observed the death anniversary of people who sacrificed their lives in 2001 (Parliament attack)."
No official statement has been released by the government. Delhi Police sources told ANI that the incident is being verified. "Initial questioning related to security breach and who gave access is being carried out. Multi-agency questioning also likely," Delhi Police said.
The anti-terror unit of the Delhi Police has arrived at Parliament to question the people who caused the security breach at Lok Sabha
"Suddenly two young men around 20 years old jumped into the House from the visitor's gallery and had canisters in their hand. These canisters were emitting yellow smoke. One of them was attempting to run towards the Speaker's chair. They were shouting some slogans. The smoke could have been poisonous," Congress MP Karti Chidambaram told ANI.
The incident happened on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack in which eight security personnel were killed after sive terrorists of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed entered the Parliament complex in a white Ambassador and opened indiscriminate fire.
