Lok Sabha Polls: AAP to contest all 13 seats in Punjab; No alliance with political parties
Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday made it clear that his party will contest all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and will not enter in alliance with any political parties.
New Delhi: Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday made it clear that his party will contest all 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and will not enter in alliance with any political parties. “We will fight on all Lok Sabha seats from the state, we will not enter into any tie-up with anyone,” Kejriwal, who was in Bathinda to attend a party legislator's wedding, told reporters. Kejriwal also criticised Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government in Punjab and accused it for failing on all poll promises they made. “He (Amarinder) had promised to give a job in each family. He had said if anyone is unemployed then he will be given unemployment allowance, he had talked about raising social security pension, waiving debt of farmers, promised smartphones to youths. Only tall promises were made, but none have been fulfilled. He spoke lies and now people of Punjab are fed up with them,” news agency PTI quoted Kejriwal as saying.
The Delhi CM also spoke about the rise of drug consumption in the state and that Singh promised to wipe out drug issue from the state but it is still there. He also lashed out at the Congress government of failing to act on the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission's inquiry report on incidents of religious sacrilege in the state. “Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report puts the Badals in the dock. Despite this, Capt Sahab is not taking any action against them. No FIR has been registered against them, because they are hand-in-glove.. People are finding viable alternative in the shape of the AAP,” Kejriwal said. The AAP chief was accompanied by Delhi’s deputy CM Manish Sisodia.
Kejriwal also spoke about the crop residue burning issue which causes relentless increase in pollution levels in Delhi. The Delhi CM said that he had taken up the matter with the Union, Punjab and Haryana governments last year. “They had assured of initiating measures, but it was unfortunate that nothing concrete had been done,” he said.
