Madhya Pradesh: One-Day Lockdown Imposed In Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur As Covid-19 Cases Surge - Check Details

As per reports, the one-day lockdown in the aforementioned cities will be imposed on March 21 (Sunday). 

Bhopal: On the backdrop of significantly rising Coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh, one-day lockdown has been imposed in cities of Indore, Bhopal and Jabalpur. As per reports, the one-day lockdown in the aforementioned cities will be imposed on March 21 (Sunday). 

Meanwhile, local authorities have also announced that all schools and colleges in Indore, Bhopal and Jabalpur will remain closed till March 31.

The announcements were made after a review meeting with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan earlier in the day.

The order by Madhya Pradesh government came days after it imposed a night curfew in Bhopal and Indore from Wednesday night. In its previous announcement, the state government also asked authorities to do thermal screening of persons coming from Maharashtra. Such passengers would have to stay in home quarantine for a week.

Madhya Pradesh is one of the eight states showing an upward trajectory in daily new cases of Coronavirus. 

Madhya Pradesh on Friday reported 1,140 COVID-19 cases, taking its tally to 2,73,097, while seven deaths increased the toll to 3,901. As per the state Health Ministry, 556 people were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the count of recoveries in Madhya Pradesh to 2,62,587.

A death each was reported from Bhopal, Gwalior, Ujjain, Chhindwara, Khandwa, Shajapur and Umaria. Indore's caseload rose by 309 to reach 63.510, while that of Bhopal touched 46,383 with the addition of 272 cases. The active caseload in the two cities is 1,960 and 1,495, respectively.

Meanwhile, with 20,770 samples being examined in the last 24 hours, the number of tests in Madhya Pradesh crossed 60.92 lakh.
