Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Monday claimed that the house arrest put upon the BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra by Uttar Pradesh Police is still continuing. She further said that the house arrest was put on Satish Chandra Mishra, as he was scheduled to visit the Lakhimpur Kheri in wake of the violence that erupted after two SUVs allegedly ran over a group of anti-farm law protesters on Sunday.
"BSP's National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Shri SC Mishra were placed under house arrest late last night at his residence in Lucknow, which is still underway so that the party delegation under his leadership could not go to Lakhimpur Kheri to get the correct report of the farmer's massacre. This is very sad and condemnable," Mayawati tweeted on Monday.

She demanded a judicial probe to look into the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. "Due to the involvement of two BJP ministers in the sad Kheri case of UP, proper government investigation of this incident and justice to the victims and strict punishment to the guilty does not seem possible. Therefore, this incident, in which 8 people have been confirmed dead so far, requires a judicial inquiry, the demand of BSP," she said.
Meanwhile, various politicians such as Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, Punjab deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randahwa, Rashtriya Lok Dal's (RLD) Jayant Chaudhary and a delegation of Trinamool Congress (TMC) have said that they will be visiting the district today.
