Kerala: Rahul Gandhi Hands Over House To Woman, Alleges She Was Denied Housing By Govt
Rahul Gandhi alleged that a woman was denied housing by the state government under the Life Mission despite being eligible because of her political ideology and support to Congress party.
New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi, who is on three-day visit to Kerala, handovered a house to a woman whom he alleged was denied housing by the state government due to different political ideology, reported news agency PTI. The Congress MP participated in a key handover ceremony in Nilambur where he handed over the house built by Samskarika Sahiti, a wing of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) for a woman who was allegedly denied a house under the Life Mission of the state government after she lost her home to floods.
The Wayanad MP alleged during the event that a woman was denied a house under Life Mission despite being eligible for it, due to her political ideology and support to the Congress party, the PTI report stated.
He also inaugurated construction of a road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Nilambur area of Kerala’s Malappuram district.
Speaking at the event, the Wayanad MP said that guidelines under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana need more flexibility based on individual needs and circumstances of every state and he has requested the Central government to consider revising them accordingly.
He further said that he has written a letter to the Union Minister of Road and Transport to consider revising the guidelines.
"I am hopeful they will consider it favourably," he said and added that he has given a list of 11 roads for being included under PMGSY for maintenance and upgradation.
The Congress leader later flagged off several trauma care ambulances from the Wandoor area of Malappuram.
