KCR To Meet Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar In Mumbai In Bid To Unite 'Anti-BJP Political Parties'

Rao, also the president of the TRS, would after the meeting with Thackeray visit Pawar’s residence and discuss national political issues, sources added.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao left for Mumbai on Sunday to meet his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar as part of his campaign against the alleged “anti-people” policies of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Rao left for Mumbai from Hyderabad’s Begumpet airport along with his party leaders to meet the Maharashtra Chief Minister at his residence in Mumbai and have lunch with him, sources in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) said, PTI reported.

Rao, also the president of the TRS, would after the meeting with Thackeray visit Pawar’s residence and discuss national political issues, sources added.

Rao, also known as KCR, would return to Hyderabad this evening.

Thackeray had during a telephonic conversation last week invited Rao, who has been critical of the BJP and the Centre on a number of issues, to Maharashtra capital Mumbai.

Thackeray, the president of Maharashtra’s ruling Shiv Sena, announced “complete support” to KCR’s “fight” against the alleged anti-people policies of the BJP and to uphold the federal spirit.

Proposing that the future course of action on the issue would be discussed when Rao meets him, Thackeray pointed out that the former has “raised his voice at the right time to protect the nation from divisive forces”.

Former prime minister and Janata Dal (Secular) chief H D Deve Gowda had recently called up KCR and extended his support to the latter’s “fight”.

The Telangana Chief Minister had earlier said that he would soon have meetings with his Maharashtra and West Bengal counterparts, Thackeray and Mamata Banerjee, respectively as part of efforts to unite various political parties against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.
