Karunanidhi dead: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK stalwart M. Karunanidhi is no more, Kauvery Hospital announced on Tuesday evening. The hospital in a statement announced the demise of Karunanidhi and said the leader died at 6.20 p.m. today. "Despite the best possible efforts by a team of doctors and nurses to resuscitate him, he failed to respond," the hospital said. Karunanidhi, 94, was admitted to the hospital on July 28 and his condition worsened on Monday. Kalaignar Karunanidhi's departure has left the state and country in mourning. Soon after the death news of the longest-serving lawmaker in Indian history surfaced, condolences from every nook and corner of the country poured in. President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other politicians along with actor Rajinikanth condoled his death.
