‘Jhukega Nahi…’: TMC MLA Manoj Tiwary’s 'Pushpa' Jibe At BJP Draws Ire, Saffron Party Hits Back

BJP hit out at Manoj Tiwary saying that the latter's remarks show the character of the party and that the whole TMC-led West Bengal government was like ‘Pushpa’ film.

New Delhi: Cricketer-turned politician Manoj Tiwary on Sunday challenged the Opposition with direct remarks and used a famous dialogue from the movie ‘Pushpa’ which drew ire. Taking a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party, the TMC MLA said “Jhukega nahi saala” (won’t bow down), a dialogue from the movie, while addressing a party rally, as per a report by news agency ANI.

Tiwary, who is Minister of State for Sports in the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, was seen encouraging the workers from the Howrah Maidan's assembly stage.

Asking the party followers and workers to remain united, he challenged the BJP. "Jhunkega nahi sala," said Tiwary as he directed the BJP workers to open their "ears" and listen to dialogues from the movie 'Pushpa'.

Tiwary’s remark soon triggered furore and received backlash after which he apologised.

As media persons questioned his take during the rally, he was seen apologising during the briefing. "I should not have spoken like that," apologised Tiwary.

Reacting to the TMC Minister’s statement, the BJP hit out at him saying that the former’s remarks show the character of the party and that the whole TMC-led West Bengal government was like ‘Pushpa’ film.

"The whole West Bengal government is like the Pushpa film. The TMC leader spoke in the same way in which a red sandalwood peddler publicly says Jhukega nahi sala, Manoj Tiwary also said the same," said Umesh Rai, State Secretary, BJP West Bengal.

He further slammed the party saying, “"The person who has exploited the rights of the youth of West Bengal, someone who has taken away the future of youth in the state, rice thieves, the way this politician spoke and behaved are similar to the red sandalwood smuggler. It depicts the real character of TMC."
