‘Hemant Soren Wouldn’t Have Ended Up In Jail If…’: JMM Leader Ahead Of Jharkhand Floor Test
Ahead of Jharkhand Floor Test, JMM leader Lobin Hembrom opined that Hemant Soren has repeatedly ignored his advice and eventually ended up in jail.
Before the Champai Soren government in Jharkhand faces a crucial floor test, Lobin Hembrom, a senior JMM leader, asserted on Sunday that incorrect guidance led to the arrest of Hemant Soren by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The former chief minister, Hemant Soren, was arrested in connection with a money laundering case.
According to news agency PTI, Hembrom, a lawmaker from Borio seat in Sahibganj district, told reporters, "Hemant Soren repeatedly ignored my advice and eventually landed in jail, he has always been surrounded by wrong advisors."

According to PTI, he squarely placed the blame on Hemant Soren's personal and media advisors, as well as advisors from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, for his current predicament. Hembrom also raised objections to the decision of the JMM-led alliance to shift MLAs to Hyderabad, expressing dissatisfaction over such expenses during a challenging time for the majority of Jharkhand's population.
Additionally, he demanded the implementation of the Chota Nagpur Tenancy Act and Santhal Parganas Tenancy Act, which prohibit the sale of tribal land to non-tribals. He also called for a ban on the sale of liquor in the state.
Regarding his stance on the floor test scheduled for Monday, Hembrom stated that he would support the Champai Soren government. The JMM-led coalition government is set to seek a vote of trust on Monday (February 5) during a special two-day assembly session. Champai Soren, the leader of the JMM legislature party, assumed the role of chief minister after Hemant Soren's arrest.
A special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court granted permission for Hemant Soren to participate in the trust vote, and he was remanded to ED custody for five days. The alliance, comprising JMM, Congress, and RJD, holds 47 MLAs in the 81-member Jharkhand assembly and receives support from the lone CPIML (L) legislator from outside.
