Jharkhand MLA Alleges Arrested Cong Legislators Wanted To Take Him To Guwahati To Meet Assam CM

He claims that the trio summoned him to Kolkata in order to transport him to Guwahati and meet with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Kumar Jaimangal Singh, MLA from Jharkhand's Bermo seat, has sent a letter of complaint against three Congress MLAs who were apprehended in Howrah with large sums of money, news agency ANI reported.

He claims that the trio summoned him to Kolkata in order to transport him to Guwahati and meet with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to the letter sent by INC's Kumar Jaimangal Singh, Biswa reportedly offered the MLAs of "a certain ministerial slot" as well as Rs 10 crores in money in the next government that may be formed after toppling the current JMM & Congress cabinet.

"Irfan Ansari and Rajesh Kachchap wants me to come to Kolkata and then take me to Guwahati where according to him he will make me meet Himanta Biswa Sarma who will give me assurance of definitive minesterial berth apart from the money," reads the letter of complaint, ANI reported.

"Irfan Ansari has told me that he has already been promised Health Ministry in the new government," Singh further said.

"I don't want to be part of this unconstitutional, illegal, and downright criminal activity," Singh stated in the letter.

In response to the allegations, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said, " Even topmost persons of Congress keep in touch with me. We don't talk about politics but being in a party for over 22 years, we keep in touch. I don't know why FIR was filed on this."

Earlier today, the Congress suspended the three Jharkhand MLAs who were arrested in West Bengal with large sums of money, PTI reported.

On Saturday, three lawmakers were apprehended: Jamtara MLA Irfan Ansari, Khijri MLA Rajesh Kachhap, and Kolebira MLA Naman Bixal.

Speaking to ANI, the state Congress state party head Rajesh Thakur had said, “Everyone saw how Assam became the focal point to topple governments, drama happened for 15 days and ultimately the Maharashtra govt was toppled… this indicates that there’s a conspiracy to destabilize the Jharkhand government. Things will be clearer in coming times.”

Following the event, the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lashed out at the Congress, claiming that corruption has been endemic in the state since the creation of the administration.

“Ever since their government came to power, corruption is on a rise. Earlier too, large amounts of cash were caught in Jharkhand at officers’ homes. They use the public’s hard-earned money for other purposes. Police caught them and it came to light,” Aditya Sahu, Jharkhand BJP state general secretary said.
