PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti, 7 Former J&K Legislators Asked To Vacate Govt Homes
Mufti was also slapped with an eviction notice for her 'Fairview' property in the city's tight guarded Gupkar district last month.
Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district Officials claimed they had asked PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and seven former lawmakers to quit government residential quarters within 24 hours or face disciplinary action, news agency PTI reported.
Mufti was also slapped with an eviction notice for her 'Fairview' property in the city's tight guarded Gupkar district last month.
The eviction notice was given to Mufti and others on Sunday by the executive magistrate First Class on the instructions of the Anantnag deputy commissioner for the government quarters located in Housing Colony at Khanabal in the south Kashmir area, authorities said.
The notifications were sent to ex-MLAs Mohammad Altaf Wani, Abdul Rahim Rather, Abdul Majeed Bhat, Altaf Shah, and Abdul Kabir Pathan, as well as ex-MLCs Bashir Shah and Choudhary Nizamuddin, they added.
The notifications warned the inhabitants that they would face legal consequences if they did not quit the premises within 24 hours, according to authorities.
Earlier today, while addressing the party's youth convention in Srinagar, Mufti slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led centre stating that no matter how many troops are deployed in Jammu and Kashmir, the Government would not see positive results until the Kashmir issue is resolved, reported news agency ANI.
"I want to tell the BJP that when the attackers came from Pakistan, the Indian Army had not come by then, the people did not have any guns in their hands, but still they chased the attackers away. So, don't be attackers, the Kashmiris know how to chase them away," Mufti said.
"Kashmir is connected to India through its Constitution. But you've (BJP) destroyed the Constitution. India doesn't belong to BJP. Till the time you don't resolve the Kashmir issue, you won't see any results no matter how many troops you send here," she said.
"It is not BJP's India and, note it down, we will not let it become BJP's India,” Mufti said at a party function.
