J&K: 2 Terrorists Killed In Khandara Encounter, Army Says ‘Large War-Like Stores Recovered’

In a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army neutralized two terrorists and recovered war-like stores in Kathua.

Two terrorists were neutralised during an operation at Khandara in the Kathua district, the Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army confirmed on Friday. The joint operation by the Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police was launched on 11 September. It concluded with the recovery of large war-like stores, according to a post by the Rising Star Corps on X (formerly Twitter).

The post read, "In the Joint operation launched on 11 Sep by Troops of Rising Star Corps & J&K Police, Two Terrorists Neutralised & Large War Like Stores Recovered. Operations Concluded."

The encounter took place in Khandara Top of the Basantgarh area in Udhampur district, where a joint team of local police and army personnel conducted a cordon and search operation. According to news agency IANS, an official said the operation began after the joint team approached the hiding terrorists, who fired upon the security forces, leading to a gunfight.

J&K: Encounters In Kishtwar & Poonch

In addition to the operation in Kathua, another encounter broke out in the Pingnal Dugadda forest area in the upper reaches of Naidgham village, Kishtwar district, as well as in the Dodi forest area of Poonch. While a makeshift hideout was busted in Poonch and some recoveries, including an AK rifle, were made, security forces have launched major search operations in the region to track down the militants.
