Jammu & Kashmir: Indian Army Recovers Huge Cache Of Arms, Ammunition Near LoC In Uri

Srinagar: The Indian Army Tuesday recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Cache of arms comprising 3 x AK 56, 2 x Pistols with magazines and ammunition was recovered,” Srinagar-based 15 corps said. The Jammu and Kashmir Police also said that arms and ammunition were recovered and perhaps, the consignment was meant for a militant group that was planning to infiltrate. “A case has been registered and investigations taken up,” a police officer said. Meanwhile, security forces have arrested a person with alleged links to proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba from Sopore in north Kashmir on Tuesday. The statement said that incriminating material and arms and ammunitions were seized from his possession. An FIR has been registered and police investigation initiated. In another incident, a terrorist was killed and one army jawan also died in action and a policeman of the special operations group of Jammu and Kashmir police was injured in an ongoing encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday. The injured army jawan later succumbed to his injuries. The Police special operation group jawan has been shifted to hospital. One terrorist has been killed so far. The operation is going on.
