Jammu And Kashmir Bus Attack: Security forces on Monday launched a massive cordon and search operation to track down terrorists behind the attack on a passenger bus in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, news agency PTI reported, citing officials.

According to PTI, the terrorists opened fire at the 53-seater bus when it was en route from Shiv Khori temple to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine at Katra near Teryath village in Poni area and it plunged into the deep gorge following the gunfire.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) team reached the spot to assist police and assess ground situation, as reported by news agency ANI.

2) Speaking on the terror incident, former Sarpanch Bhushan Uppal claims, "As soon as we came to know that terrorists attacked the vehicle, we reached here and rescued the people. We asked the injured people, and they told us that one of the terrorists attacked the driver and he was shot in the head. The driver lost control, and the vehicle fell into the ditch, but they did not stop firing. They kept firing for 15 to 20 minutes, and because of that, some people got injured due to the bullets," as quoted by ANI.
3) Terrorists involved in the attack are believed to be hiding in the upper reaches of neighbouring Rajouri and Reasi, the sources said, adding that the area has dense forest belts and a deep gorge.
4) "A search operation has been launched in the area," Senior Superintendent of Police, Reasi, Mohita Sharma said, as quoted by PTI. The village defence committees have also been geared up in the area, she added. Over 40 people were injured in the attack, and 10 of them sustained bullet wounds, PTI reported, citing officials.
Ex Gratia Announced For Kin Of Deceased
Following the incident, Lt Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha announced an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the next of kin of pilgrims who were killed in the Reasi terror attack. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000. The injured pilgrims are being treated at different hospitals in Jammu & Reasi.
