40 CRPF Men, 5 Pregnant Women Among 227 New Covid-19 Cases In J&K; Tally Rises To 8,246

Officials said that among the cases besides 40 CRPF and BSF include a policeman from police station Shopian five and pregnant women.

Srinagar: At least 40 paramilitary forces personnel were among 227 new Covid-19 infections reported in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, taking the total number of the cases in the Valley to 8,246. So far, there are 2,976 active cases of Coronavirus in the union territory. ALSO READ | Four More Patients Succumb To Covid-19 In Kashmir, Death Toll In J-K Climbs To 125 Giving the district wise break of the cases, data revealed that 57 were reported from Baramulla, Shopian 46, Srinagar 33, Budgam 26, Pulwama 17, Jammu 12, Samba 10, Kulgam 2, Kupwara seven, Bandipora five, four each in Anantnag and Rajouri, Udhampur 2 and one each in Poonch and Doda. Officials said that among the cases besides 40 CRPF and BSF include a policeman from police station Shopian five and pregnant women. Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS Soura said that out of the 1883 samples were processed at the viral diagnostic laboratory of the hospital, 85 returned positive for the virus. ALSO READ | Kashmir Fights Rising Covid 19 Cases On War Footing, All Districts Except One Declared Red Zone Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, told among them 40 are from CRPF Battalions, 14 from Pulwama, 13 from Shopian, six from Srinagar, three from Baramulla, two each from Anantnag, Kulgam, Bandipora and Rajouri besides one from Kupwara. Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, told GNS that out of 395 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 37 tested positive for COVID-19 and includes 26 from Budgam and Srinagar 11. The other cases were confirmed at CD and Jammu labs. A statement by the Information and Public Relations Department said of the new cases, 30 were from Jammu division and 197 from Kashmir division. Six patients succumbed to the virus in different UT hospitals, taking the death toll to 127 in the UT. So far, 5,143 patients have completely recovered. Of the total active cases, 434 are in Jammu division and 2,542 in Kashmir division.
