Jammu And Kashmir: Pakistan Violates Ceasefire For Second Time Near LoC Today, Indian Army Retaliates

There was no immediate report of any casualty in the Pakistani firing and shelling, the spokesman said.

New Delhi: In yet another attempt of ceasefire violation today, Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing by small arms and shelling with mortars in Sunderbani sector of Rajouri on Wednesday. The ceasefire violation reportedly took place at 15:15 hours. Following the attack, the Indian Army is retaliating effectively. There was no immediate report of any casualty in the Pakistani firing and shelling, the spokesman said. "At about 3.15 pm, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing small arms and mortars along the LoC in Sunderbani sector. Indian Army is retaliating befittingly," he said. Further details in this incident are awaited. Meanwhile, this is the second ceasefire violation today. Earlier in the day, a civilian was killed and five others were injured as Pakistani troops opened fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machhil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday. Officials said the injured have been admitted to a hospital. Tension between India and Pakistan has spiked after New Delhi withdrew Jammu and Kashmir's special status and bifurcated it into union territories -- Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.India has repeatedly urged Pakistan to "respect" the 2003 ceasefire arrangement between the two countries.
