Operation Khanda: 3 Terrorist Gunned Down As Indian Army & J-K Police Foils Infiltration Bid In Baramulla

Three terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Indian side and were attacked by vigilant forces, according to the authorities.

Officials claimed three terrorists were killed on Saturday after security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, news agency PTI reported. According to police authorities, the operation began in the Hathlanga forward region of the Uri sector of the north Kashmir district. "In a Joint Operation launched by #IndianArmy, @JmuKmrPolice and Intelligence agencies, an infiltration bid was foiled today in the morning hours along LoC in Uri Sector, Baramulla," Army's Chinar Corps wrote in a post on X.

Three terrorists attempted to infiltrate the Indian side and were attacked by vigilant forces, according to the post.

While the remains of two terrorists have been recovered, shooting from a nearby Pakistani station is interfering with the recovery of the third terrorist's body, according to the post.

The operation is ongoing, according to the Army.

The identities and group affiliations of the murdered terrorists have yet to be determined, according to authorities.

The infiltration attempt and subsequent confrontation occur at a time when an operation in Anantnag district is ongoing to eliminate terrorists who have taken up positions in the forest region in a steep terrain. On Saturday, the firefight reached its fourth day.

Adequate Forces Deployed To Look Out For Terrorist Movement Into Kishtwar: Police

A senior police officer said on Saturday that although a battle between terrorists and security forces is taking place in Anantnag in south Kashmir, appropriate personnel have been posted in the higher reaches of Kishtwar to keep an eye out for any terrorist movement from over the Pir Panjal Range.

The gunfire has been going on in Kokernag's woodland regions since Wednesday. On Wednesday, three Army men and a police officer were killed in a firefight.

''For the last three days, adequate personnel of police and army are deployed in the higher reaches of Singhpora and we are dominating the area,'' Kishtwar Senior Superintendent of Police Khalil Poswal was quoted by PTI in its report.
