70 More Test Positive As Covid-19 Tally Crosses 8,000-Mark In J&K; Death Toll At 119
At present, there are 2,825 active cases in the Union Territory, while 5,075 patients have recovered from the infection.
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday reported 170 new Covid-19 infections, taking the overall count of positive cases in the Valley to 8,019. As per reports, four people died due to the contagion taking the death toll to 119. The four fatalities were reported from Kashmir. Of the total deaths, 14 belonged to Jammu province and 105 were from Kashmir division. Amongst the 170 new Covid-19 cases, forty-two were from Jammu region and 128 people were from the valley, the officials said.
Officials said that among them include four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers from 35 batallion CRPF Budgam, 10 from 108 RCC Trehgam Kupwara, one policeman DPL Baramulla, two babies and a doctor.
Out of these cases, 63 were confirmed at CD hospital lab, 61 at SKIMS Soura, 11 at SKIMS Bemina while remaining at Jammu labs.
Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer Coronavirus Control Measures at SKIMS Soura told that out of the 1543 samples were processed at the viral diagnostic laboratory of the hospital, 61 returned positive for the virus.

Professor Farooq Jan, Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, told that 23 are from Anantnag, 12 from Kupwara, 15 from Srinagar, four each from Bandipora and CRPF Battalions, two from Kupwara and one Ganderbal.
Dr Riyaz Untoo, Principal SKIMS Bemina, told that out of 536 samples processed at the hospital’s lab, 11 tested positive for COVID-19— all from Srinagar.
At present, there are 2,825 active cases in the Union Territory, while 5,075 patients have recovered from the infection. The cases detected on Friday included 57 people who had returned to the UT recently, the officials said.
They said Srinagar district in central Kashmir recorded a maximum of 41 new cases, followed by 24 in Kupwara district. Three districts -- Pulwama, Poonch and Reasi -- did not have any fresh cases detected in the past 24 hours.
