J&K Statehood: Congress Protests Demanding Restoration Of Statehood As Delimitation Commission Visits UT
The demand to restore the statehood for Jammu and Kashmir intensified amid the visit of the Delimitation Commission. Congress thus demonstrated to demand full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu: Delimitation Commission is on a tour for the delimitation of Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir. As the Central Government plans to reduce the difference of assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir by delimitation, the demand for statehood for Jammu and Kashmir is strengthening.
It is worth noting that the Delimitation Commission is on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir for 4 days and during this time it will meet various political organizations and decide the outline of the delimitation.
While BJP is welcoming this Delimitation Commission, the opposition party is demanding statehood status for Jammu and Kashmir from the Delimitation Commission.
Congress thus demonstrated to demand full statehood for Jammu and Kashmir. Congress has demanded that if the political and democratic dialogue in Jammu and Kashmir are to be strengthened, then first statehood should be given, and only after that election should be held.
Congress is arguing that if full statehood is given to Jammu and Kashmir then the confidence of the people will increase in the Central Government and they will come in large numbers to exercise their franchise.
Scuffle Between Congress & Police
Congress planned a protest in Jammu today for restoring the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir. As Congress workers were leaving their offices and going towards the city, the increased police force presence prevented them from entering the city premises. There was a scuffle between the Congress workers and the police.
