J-K Political Parties Express Condolences For Slain Teachers; Seek L-G's Resignation

In the past week, seven innocent civilians were killed. Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had said that around 28 civilians have been killed by the militants this year.

New Delhi: In the wake of recent killings of people belonging to the minority community, various political parties leader in Jammu and Kashmir visited the families of slain teachers, Supinder Kaur and Deepak Chand on Thursday to express their condolences as they condemn the rise in civilian deaths in the Union Territory.

In the past week, seven innocent civilians were killed. Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police had said that around 28 civilians have been killed by the militants this year.

Former CM and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah was amongst the political leaders who met the aggrieved family. “Neither Muslims nor Sikhs or Pandits of the Valley feel safe…No one can say that there was no information about this (possible attacks),” Abdullah was quoted by Indian Express in its report.

PDP Chief and Former CM of J-K Mehbooba Mufti blamed the central government. "This is the result of steps they have taken, starting from 2019,” she was quoted by Indian Express in its report. As per the media report, PDP further demanded the resignation of the J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Earlier, J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had said that every drop of innocent blood will be avenged. "I am deeply pained and anguished and I promise the family members of the innocent victims that perpetrators of the barbaric acts will be punished soon," Sinha was quoted by PTI in its report.

Recently, two teachers were killed in a terrorist attack at a government school in the Eidgah area of Srinagar. Amongst the slain teachers was the principal of the school, Supinder Kaur, and a Kashmiri Pandit teacher, Deepak Chand.

Previously, a businessman was killed by terrorists in Srinagar on Tuesday evening. The incident took place near Iqbal Park in Srinagar where terrorists fired upon the owner of Bindroo Medicate namely, Makhan Lal Bindroo, a Kashmiri Pandit. He was shifted to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
