Islamic preacher Zakir Naik's foundation to be banned?
New Delhi: The law ministry of India is mulling to ban Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s Islamic Research Foundation (IRF). This is reportedly being done as aftermath of various controversies that erupted over Naik’s speeches.
The Home Ministry has been briefed by the law ministry, and has been told that Naik’s research foundation (IRF) could be declared “unlawful” under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The ban would hold its validity for five years.
As per reports, the law ministry will be keeping in mind the number of FIRs that have been filed against the Islamic preacher who has been accused of “Motivating terrorists”. The ministry has reportedly compiled a list of FIRs against him.
Earlier Naik’s Peace TV was banned in Bangladesh after he was accused of influencing the terrorists of Dhaka café attack via his speeches.
Naik is currently in West Asia.
