Ticket Booking For Trains To Resume At 1.7 Lakh Common Service Centres From Tomorrow, Says Piyush Goyal

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday said that the booking of tickets will also resume at counters of some stations in two or three days.

New Delhi: As booking for the 200 trains scheduled to run from June 1 was opened for passengers on Thursday, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal stated that booking will resume at around 1.7 lakh common service centres across the country from Friday. He said that the booking for the train tickets will also resume at counter of different stations in the next  two or three days and a protocol for the same is being developed. Common Service Centres are physical facilities for delivering e-services of the government at rural and remote locations where availability of computers and internet is negligible or absent. Goyal emphaised that in the last two and a half hours, over 4 lakh tickets have been booked for second class passenger trains which start from June 1.  People have also started reverse bookings to come back to work, he said. Also, there are so many people who want to return to work in cities which is a very good sign,” he said. "We are developing a protocol to identify the stations...we will also soon announce the resumption of more trains," Goyal said during a conversation with his party colleague and BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra. The booking for around 200 passengers trains which are scheduled to run on June 1 was started by IRCTC at the official website at 10 am on Thursday. Rail services had been suspended in India on March 22 at the time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the first phase of nationwide lockdown. Also Watch:
