New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday addressed Manthan ceremony in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Speaking at the event Rajnath Singh said that Indian Defence sector will be a world leader in the coming times.

“Due to the concerted efforts of the country, the Indian Defence sector will be a world leader in the coming times,” news agency ANI quoted Rajnath Singh as saying.

This comes ahead of Defence Expo which will be hosted by Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat. This 12th edition of the event has been organised on the theme 'Path to Pride'. PM Modi will grace the inaugural ceremony on October 19.

During his address, Rajnath Singh also said that India is the youngest country in the world today with new thinking and new goals. "India's the youngest country in the world today, not only from a demographic point of view but also from the mind. Its thinking is new, its goals are new & so the paths leading to new objectives should also be new," ANI quoted Rajnath Singh as saying.

Rajnath Singh called iDEX an important initiatives towards making India self-reliant and self-sufficient. IDEX was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Defence Expo 2018. "iDEX is one of the important initiatives towards making India self-reliant&self-sufficient. It was launched by PM during Def-Expo 2018. Due to its excellence, it was awarded Prime Minister's Award last year, the news agency quoted Rajnath Singh as saying.

"IDEX has uncovered entrepreneurial potential in country, which wasn't visible till now due to various policy constraints. It has provided platform for aspiring start-ups,&innovators to come forward&work closely with other stakeholders in defence sector," he added.
