The Indian Coast Guard officials said that their ship C439 rescued the life of a man who fell into the water outside Mumbai while aboard the private yacht McGregor 6. According to maritime security agency, the rescue operation lasted around three hours. The Indian Coast Guard said that the rescued person is currently stable and well.

The video of the rescue mission has been shared by news agency ANI on its official X handle. 

"The Indian Coast Guard Ship saved a precious life in the dark hours. In a swift operation conducted in the night of February 3, 24, ICG ship C439 saved a man, who had fallen into the sea off Mumbai from private Yatch McGregor 6. ICG ship responded to the call quickly. The rescue operation lasted three hours," ICG official was quoted by ANI in its report.

Since its inception in 1977, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has rescued 11,561 lives, according to authorities, Times Of India reported.

Earlier on February 1, the Indian Coast Guard marked its 48th Raising Day.

From its start to December 31, 2023, it conducted 3,899 search and rescue operations, 8,012 sorties, and 453 medical evacuations at sea. With 158 ships, 78 planes, and 13,954 troops, the ICG is also active in anti-smuggling and narcotics control at sea, having captured contraband worth Rs 15,343 crore.

On February 1, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Air Station Daman commemorated its 48th Raising Day with a gathering of more than 1,200 persons. ICG has grown into an effective force in marine surveillance, search and rescue, and pollution management.
