Robotic Dogs At Army Day Celebrations
A key highlight of this year’s event was the display of robotic dogs, or Multi-Utility Legged Equipment (MULEs), which were featured prominently during the Army Day march. The Indian Army recently inducted 100 of these high-tech machines into its ranks. Designed to operate in challenging terrains, these robotic dogs are intended to enhance operational effectiveness and reduce the risks faced by human soldiers.

The robotic dogs were showcased at the Southern Command Investiture Ceremony, held at the BEG & Centre Parade Ground in Khadki, Pune. Lt General Dhiraj Seth, AVSM, GOC-in-C Southern Command, presided over the event, which not only celebrated military excellence but also underscored the Army's commitment to technological innovation, reported The Times Of India.
The robotic dogs have thermal imaging sensors and can carry up to 12 kilograms. These 'dogs' or MULEs can assist the Indian Army in logistics and surveillance. These machines can even assist in combat with small arms.
The ceremony featured a grand march past by eight distinguished contingents from various regiments. The events highlighted the Army's advanced weaponry and state-of-the-art combat vehicles.
Army Day serves as a moment to reflect on the leadership of Field Marshal Cariappa and India’s growing military independence. The occasion is also a time to honour the sacrifices made by soldiers, as well as to inspire a sense of patriotism and national unity. The Army’s motto, “Service Before Self,” embodies the dedication and selflessness of its personnel.
