'Lies & Half-Truths': India Slams Pakistan For Remarks On J&K; Chinese Media Refuses To Carry New Delhi's Response

India slammed Pakistani Envoy for calling Jammu & Kashmir a "de-facto police state" in Global Times article, Chinese mouthpiece refuses to carry response.

New Delhi: Indian Embassy in China criticised Pakistan's envoy there for the claims he made about the territory of Jammu & Kashmir. ALSO READ | China Extends Anti-Dumping Duties On Optical Fibres Imported From India The article was published by the Chinese state-run Global Times wherein the Pakistani envoy in China Moin ul Haque urged the global community for "necessary actions be taken to ease the suffering of Kashmiri people" while calling it "a de-facto police state". He made several claims about the state of the Kashmiri people. The Indian Embassy has released a strong-worded statement over the same. "In the article titled 'Urgent actions on Jammu Kashmir needed' published by the Global Times on August 7, Pakistan's Ambassador to China, Moin ul Haque, has chosen to repeat Pakistan's lies and half-truths vis-a-vis the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir which is an integral part of India and whose affairs are internal affairs of India, where Pakistan or any other country has no locus standi," Indian Embassy said in its statement. The Embassy highlighted the progressive and affirmative laws extended to the union territory after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution. "In the last one year since the historic decision on August 5, 2019, several positive and affirmative union laws have been extended to Jammu and Kashmir resulting in the more effective protection and promotion of social economic and political rights, especially among underprivileged sections such as women, children and minorities," the statement read. Difference Of Approach Between India & Pakistan

It also pointed out several measures undertaken by the Indian government to resolve the grievances of the Kashmiri people while establishing better infrastructure in education and health, with scholarship schemes and more job opportunities for the youth. The statement put out the contrast between India's efforts to bring stability and progress to the union territory, and Pakistan's attempts in promoting cross border terrorism to debilitate the region. "Its unprovoked ceasefire violations numbering close to 3000 in the first seven months of 2020 alone, provide support for terrorist infiltration along the India-Pakistan Line of Control (LOC). Terrorists recruited, trained and armed by Pakistan have disturbed peace and order in J&K with over 450 incidents of terrorist orchestrated violence taking place since August 2019 leading to several civilian casualties," the embassy wrote. "And it is in fact Pakistan that has repeatedly affected administrative and demographic changes in territories that it has occupied illegally and forcibly in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh... Perhaps Ambassador Haque could consider holding up a mirror to his own 'regime' and reflect on Pakistan's own actions in the region before making ludicrous characterizations of the Indian government's actions," it added.
