Around 26-27 Parties To Participate In INDIA's Mumbai Meet, Logo Likely To Be Unveiled On Aug 31: Ashok Chavan

The opposition INDIA alliance's logo likely to be unveiled on August 31 during the Opposition's convention in Mumbai, the leader further stated.

The leaders of the unified opposition will gather for the third time in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1 under the banner of the Indian National Developmental Democratic Alliance (I.N.D.I.A), Maharashtra Congress Leader Ashok Chavan said on Saturday, news agency ANI reported. The opposition INDIA alliance's logo likely to be unveiled on August 31 during the Opposition's convention in Mumbai, the leader further stated.

Speaking about the meeting, Maharashtra Congress Leader Ashok Chavan stated: "Around 26-27 parties will participate in the meeting. An informal gathering will be held on the evening of August 31 in Mumbai and a formal meeting on September 1. So far, two meetings have been organised so in this third meeting the next agenda will be discussed...We are deciding to make a common logo and it may get unveiled on August 31."

With the Lok Sabha elections next year in mind, the Opposition leaders banded together to form a unified front against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

In June, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar hosted the first Opposition gathering in Patna, while the second was held in Congress-ruled Karnataka. The Shiv Sena (UBT) and the NCP's Sharad Pawar faction are hosting the upcoming meeting, with the support of the Congress. The Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition is made up of three parties.

The opposition parties have increased their electoral preparations to build a united front against the BJP-led NDA government ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections in five states later this year.

Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram will have Assembly elections this year.

During a conference earlier in Bengaluru, 26 opposition parties titled their alliance I.N.D.I.A. The 26 opposition parties which are part of the opposition alliance are: the Congress, TMC, DMK, AAP, JD(U), RJD, JMM, NCP (Sharad Pawar), Shiv Sena (UBT), SP, NC, PDP, CPI(M), CPI, RLD, MDMK, Kongunadu Makkal Desia Katchi (KMDK), VCK, RSP, CPI-ML (Liberation), Forward Bloc, IUML, Kerala Congress (Joseph), Kerala Congress (Mani), Apna Dal (Kamerawadi), and the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK).
