'India's G20 Presidency An Opportunity To Attract Investments': PM Modi Tells Chief Ministers

PM Modi chaired a video meeting of Governors, CMs, Lt Governors of Union Territories to discuss aspects relating to India's G20 presidency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said India's G20 presidency belonged to the entire nation and called it an opportunity to showcase the country's strengths. Chairing a video meeting of Governors, Chief Ministers and Lt Governors, PM Modi asked states to utilise this opportunity to attract investments, PMO statement said.

"India's G20 presidency belongs to entire nation, opportunity to showcase country's strengths," PM Modi said at the video meeting.

Emphasising the importance of teamwork, PM Modi sought the cooperation of states and UTs in organisation of various G20 events.

Highlighting that a large number of visitors would be coming to the country during India's G20 Presidency, PM Modi underlined the importance of states/UTs utilising this opportunity to "rebrand themselves as attractive business, investment and tourism destinations".

The Prime Minister also reiterated the need to ensure people's participation in the G-20 events by a "whole-of-government and a whole-of-society approach".

Notably, a number of governors, chief ministers and lieutenant governors shared their views during the meeting and talked about the preparations being done by the states and UTs to suitably host G-20 meetings.

The meeting was also addressed by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and a presentation was made by India's G-20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant.
