‘India, China Have Agreed Not To Turn Their Differences Into Disputes,’ Says Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson

Taking to Twitter China’s ambassador to India quoted the Foreign Ministry spokesperson as saying “border areas situation” were discussed on June 6 meet.

New Delhi: Amid tensions over border issues between India and China, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said that both the countries have agreed not to turn their differences into disputes and maintain close communication on resolving the issue through diplomatic and military channels. This statement comes days after the military level talks between Indian and Chinese commanders on Chushul-Moldo point in Eastern Ladakh, along the LAC. Taking to Twitter China’s ambassador to India quoted the Foreign Ministry spokesperson as saying “border areas situation” were discussed on June 6 meet. He said both the parties have maintained close communication on resolving border issues through diplomatic and military channels. "China and India agreed to implement the important consensus reached by leaders, not to turn differences into disputes, work together to maintain peace and tranquillity in border areas, so as to create a favourable atmosphere for stable development of bilateral relations", Hua tweeted.

Hua stressed China & India agreed to implement important consensus reached by leaders, not to turn differences into disputes, work together to maintain peace & tranquility in border areas, so as to create a favorable atmosphere for stable development of bilateral relations. (2/3)

The first of its kind military-level meet was held on Saturday between  the Army commanders of both India and China. The meet was held in the wake of the weeks-long stand-off between the two neighbouring countries in Eastern Ladakh. Also Check:  China upset with 'Boycott Chinese Products' campaign | Master Stroke India’s  Ministry Of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement,  after the meeting saying that both the parties have agreed to peacefully resolve the current border dispute.  “Indian and Chinese military commanders agreed to peacefully resolve the current border issue in eastern Ladakh in accordance with bilateral pacts as well as the agreement reached between leadership of the two countries.” It said that in the weeks of late, India and China have maintained communications through established diplomatic and military channels to address the situation in areas along the India-China border. Hua also said that the overall situation in the border areas is generally stable and under control, "China and India have the capacity and willingness to properly solve relevant issues through negotiation and consultation," she added.
