US Willing To Mediate Border Dispute Between India And China: Donald Trump On Ladakh Standoff

New Delhi: Amid escalating border tension between India and China over Ladakh Line Of Actual Control (LAC) standoff, US President Donald Trump on Wednesday offered helping hands to mediate between the two countries over what he believes it to be a "now raging border dispute". Trump recent statement refers to a weeks long build up between Indian and Chinese troops along the LAC in Ladakh region following a recent standoff. Taking to the micro blogging site Twitter, Trump said that the US has informed both India and China that the United States is ready, willing and able to mediate or arbitrate their now raging border dispute.

Currently, both Indian and Chinese troops are locked in a face-off in eastern Ladakh at the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Witnessing the rising tensions, a series of meetings between key officials are being held on a daily basis. Yesterday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in afternoon held a meeting with General Bipin Rawat and the three service chiefs to understand the prevailing ground situation of the face-off in Ladakh and to discuss the next move of the forces. Later in the day, Prime Minister held a high-level meeting with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and the three service chiefs to discuss India's military preparedness to deal with external security challenges. Situation at the India-China border in Ladakh remains stiff at troops are in place from both the sides and there are at least three locations where there has been an eyeball-to-eyeball situation till May 5. Reportedly, both India and China have deployed over 1,000 troops at four locations along the LAC.
