Indian Army personnel celebrated Independence Day at the India-Pakistan border in Gujarat's Nadabet. Nadabet in Banaskantha is Gujarat's first Indo-Pak border viewing point -- similar to the Wagah-Attari border of Punjab.
Last year, Union Home minister Amit Shah had inaugurated the Indo-Pak border viewing point and has been developed as a major tourist attraction.

In Jalpaiguri in West Bengal, Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) exchanged sweets on the occasion of Independence Day.
Independence Day was also celebrated with fervour by the BSF personnel near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.
The national flag was unfurled by the commanding officer of the battalion as personnel raised patriotic slogans to mark the 77th Independence Day.
"Our battalion is posted at the LoC along with three army units. We are fortunate that we are given the duty to protect the borders of the country and we are very proud of it. I want to assure my countrymen that they are safe and secure. The enemy cannot go through us," Commanding Officer Mohammad Israil told PTI.
On the occassion, the Army also inaugurated a bridge across a rivulet as a gift to the locals of Danna village, the last village on the LoC in Machhal sector of Kupwara district, IANS reported.
The Army, in a statement, said the 115 feet long bridge was named as 'Bhagat Bridge' in memory of Late Major Bhagat Singh, Veer Chakra, who laid down his life defending this sector in the 1965 war.
