IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In South India On Diwali — Check Details

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain over peninsular India over the coming week. Ahead of Diwali, heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds is predicted to hit the southern coast. IMD has predicted heavy rainfall due to a low-pressure area formed over the southeast Arabian Sea. The heavy rainfall during the Diwali festivities will hit the southern parts of the country.
According to IMD, a low-pressure area is formed over the Comorin area and adjoining the north Sri Lanka coast. It is likely to emerge into the Southeast Arabian Sea over the next 48 hours and move northwards later due to the lower lever eastern winds.
The low-pressure area is likely to cause heavy rainfalls over the Konkan and Goa region, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry subdivision, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, interior Karnataka, and Telangana in the next few days.
Scattered rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected for the next 3-4 days till November 5 in the South Konkan and Goa, south Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada region. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and Rayalseema will also face isolated rainfall on November 2.
The rainfall and thunderstorm will intensify by November 3, issuing an alert in Kerala and Mahe region with heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds. The low-pressure area will then move westwards causing heavy rainfall along th western coast of peninsular India. The Konkan and Goa subdivision, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, interior Karnataka, and Madhya Maharashtra subdivision are predicted to see heavy rainfall till November 6.
