IAF Rescues 5 UT Disaster Relief Force Personnel From Ladakh's Markha Valley

IAF 114 HU evacuated five personnel of the UT Disaster Relief Force from Markha Valley, Ladakh.

In a rescue operation, Indian Air Force 114 HU evacuated five personnel of the UT Disaster Relief Force from Markha Valley, Ladakh, as reported by news agency ANI. According to PRO (Defence) Leh, the IAF's single-engine helicopters flew in uncharted territory and narrow valleys without any flat terrain or feature to land on.

Earlier, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), took stock of the operational readiness of Gujarat's Jamnagar Air Force station on August 7th and 8th, the IAF officials said, as reported by ANI. The Air Chief Marshal also took the opportunity to visit vital installations and ongoing infrastructure projects at the station.

“Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari visited Air Force Station Jamnagar on 7th and 8th August and was briefed on the operational readiness of the station by Air Commodore Anand Sondhi and other senior officers. He also visited vital installations and ongoing infrastructural projects there, said IAF officials, as quoted by ANI.

Last week on Thursday, the IAF received Israeli Spike Non-Line of Sight (NLOS) anti-tank guided missiles, which can hit targets from distances of up to 30 kilometres, to improve their ability to destroy enemy targets hidden behind mountains. The Israeli Spike NLOS anti-tank guided missiles have been delivered and trials will begin soon, news agency ANI reported citing defence sources. 

In July, VR Chaudhari interacted with personnel of a forward fighter base and complimented them for their high state of operational preparedness.
