Heavy rains claim 22 lives in Rajasthan; ruin farmers' crops in Punjab
In Alwar, a ruckus was caused after electricity poles and trees fell on the cars and roads, creating several blockages and creating destruction.
Rajasthan: Heavy rains have caused destruction in various parts of the state; especially Bharatpur, where 11 people lost their lives, Dholpur where 6 people died, Alwar where 4 people died and Jhunjunu where 1 person died. Also, more than 100 people have been injured.
In Alwar, a ruckus was caused after electricity poles and trees fell on the cars and roads, creating several blockages and creating destruction.
Not just Rajasthan, similar perils were faced by people in Punjab, where farmers’ wheat stored in dana mandi got destroyed due to heavy rains; as farmers did not have anything to cover their crops with.
This led to waste of tones of wheat.
The farmers are now demanding compensation from the government and also amenities to protect their crops. Also, they are seeking lifting of their crops from the mandis so that further wastage can be avoided.Saddened to learn about the deaths of 22 people in several parts of Rajasthan due to thunderstorm and bad weather. My heartfelt condolences to the families. Urge the government to extend all possible help to the victims' families and to those injured.
