He said that people have given a BJP-opposing mandate, while hinting at allying with the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), which is in the role of kingmaker in the state.

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday called on the opposition parties to form government, after the trends projected a hung assembly, with both Congress and BJP pitched in a neck-and-neck fight. He said that people have given a BJP-opposing mandate, while hinting at allying with the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), which is in the role of kingmaker in the state. 'People have voted against BJP', he said. “All the opposition parties should come together and form a government together. Interests of all the parties will be respected,” he further added. Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi earlier spoke to Hooda and discussed the recent developments of Haryana. Sources said Gandhi has taken stock of the latest political situation in the state. As of now both Congress and BJP seem away from a clear majority in the state. Bhupinder Singh Hooda won Garhi Sampla-Kiloi Assembly seat. Stay tuned to LIVE updates of election results here . As per sources, the Congress party is in touch with the JJP and other independent candidates. Bhupinder Singh Hooda who is in Rohtak has reportedly been directed to hold parleys with JJP leadership and come up with a final arrangement. Elections for the 90 seats of the Haryana's Legislative Assembly were held on October 21. The counting of votes is underway.
