Haryana CM Dedicates 2022-23 Budget To Women, Announces Sushma Swaraj Award

The Sushma Swaraj Award will be given to women from Haryana who have made important contributions or achieved outstanding achievements in various fields on a national and worldwide scale.

New Delhi: While dedicating the 2022-23 state budget to women, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who also holds the finance portfolio, announced an award of Rs 5 lakh in the name of late leader Sushma Swaraj.

The Sushma Swaraj Award will be given to women from Haryana who have made significant contributions or achievements in different walks of life in national and international spheres, PTI reported.

The Haryana government on Tuesday presented a Rs 1.77-lakh-crore Budget for the financial year 2022-23.

Khattar also announced the Haryana Matrushakti Udyamita Scheme to provide support to women for becoming entrepreneurs.

Under this scheme, women will be given access to soft loans of up to Rs 3 lakh from financial institutions, with a 7 per cent interest subsidy provided for three years through the Haryana Women Development Corporation.

To increase women's participation in Panchayati Raj institutions, Khattar said 50 per cent of seats would be reserved for women instead of 33 per cent.

In 2022-23, the Sahbhagita project will be implemented in Faridabad, Gurgaon, and Panchkula for working women in metropolitan cities who face a housing shortage. This project will look into three Mahila Ashrams.

Haryana 2022-23 Budget

On Tuesday, CM Manohar Lal Khattar presented a Rs 1.77-lakh-crore Budget for the financial year 2022-23 against the Rs 1.53-lakh-crore Budget in 2021-22.

The budget outlay is made up of 34.4 per cent capital expenditure (Rs 61,057.36 crore) and 65.6 per cent revenue expenditure (Rs 1,16,198.63 crore).

The Chief Minister promised tablets for all students in grades 10th and 12th, as well as a programme to grant soft loans to female entrepreneurs, as well as the establishment of three specific funds to stimulate growth in various industries.

For the 2022-23 budget, Rs 20,250.57 crore has been allotted for education. Among other things, the administration has suggested starting subject-based Olympiads for students from classes 8 t o12.

Students with the highest ranks will be sent on exposure tours to NASA and ISRO. Olympiad winners will also get scholarships.
