Gujarat: Women Receive Gold Nose Pins And Men Get Hand Blenders For Taking Coronavirus Vaccine In Rajkot

While India is experiencing the second wave of Coronavirus, Gujarat locals have found a unique way to encourage people for getting vaccinated.

If you are getting vaccinated in Gujarat then you are not only protecting yourself from Coronavirus but will receive a gift made of gold for taking a step ahead for society and yourself. In a bid to encourage people to take the vaccine, the goldsmith community in Gujarat's Rajkot is offering a nose-pin made of gold to women & hand blender to men getting inoculated at their vaccination camp.

We hear such interesting promises only during the poll season but the Gujarat goldsmith community has found a unique way to attract both men and women and get them jabbed.

The efforts come when India on Friday added 89,030 new cases, more than any other country, surpassed, on average, the number of new infections in the United States, and was set to overtake Brazil over the weekend to become the country with the worst outbreak in the world amid a second wave in the country that led to 92,961 new infections on Saturday — the highest since September 17.

According to the Health Ministry, the cumulative number of coronavirus vaccine doses administered in the country crossed seven crore with 12,76,191 doses given till 8 pm on Friday.

Gujarat’s COVID-19 situation is worsening with a sharp rise in new infections and mortality as the State is in midst of the second wave of the global pandemic. The State on Saturday recorded 2,815 new infections, its highest single day case count since the COVID-19 outbreak in March 2020, and 13 deaths, again the highest death count in the last 110 days.

The worst affected are the major cities — Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot — where two-thirds of the State’s total cases are coming up. In fact, with a rapid surge in cases, the fatality figures being provided by the State health authorities appear highly under-reported in contrast to the figures cited by independent sources, local media and others.
