'Make Amul World's Number 1': PM Modi's Target To Gujarat Cooperative On Golden Jubilee
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation in Ahmedabad.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hailed the milk cooperatives of Gujarat on the occasion of golden jubilee of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation. Addressing a gathering at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, PM Modi said the global dairy sector is developing at a 2 per cent per annum, while India's dairy sector is growing at 6 per cent. He also gave the target of making GCMMF, which owns Amul brand, the number one dairy company in the world from its current eighth position.
"The sapling planted by the villages of Gujarat 50 years back, has become a big banyan tree today. The branches of this tree have now extended across the country as well as the world," said PM Modi. "Greetings to you on the golden jubilee of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation," he added.
Reiterating his stance on women empowerment, the Prime Minister said, "To make India a developed nation, it is important to make the financial situation of every woman in India stronger. That's why our government is doing work to make women financially empowered. Under Mudra Yojana, help worth over Rs 30 lakh crore has been provided to around 70 percent of women."

He also hailed Amul brand saying it has "exemplified how decisions taken with a long-term vision benefit generations."
"After India's independence, several brands came up in the country. Lekin Amul jaisa koi nahi (no one is like Amul)- Amul has become the identity of livestock keepers. Amul means trust, Amul means development, Amul means public participation, Amul means farmer empowerment, Amul means inspiration for Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Amul means big dreams, big resolutions and bigger accomplishments...," said PM Modi.
"Amul is also an example of how the destiny of future generations is changed with the decisions taken with farsightedness...Today, this is an exemplary model of Government-Cooperative coordination. Due to such efforts, today we are the biggest milk producing country," he added.
"Today Amul (GCMMF) is the eight largest dairy company in the world, your target is to make it number one, the government will give all its support. This is Modi's guarantee," he said.
On the occasion, where Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupinder Patel was also present, PM Modi inaugurated several dairy product factories.
