'Genocide Deniers': Vivek Agnihotri's Fresh Jibe At Tharoor, Kejriwal As Yasin Malik Pleads Guilty

'I am grateful to God to have helped me play a small role in getting justice for my brothers and sisters. I hope NOW Genocide Deniers will let us live in peace and let us heal," wrote Vivek Agnihotri.

New Delhi: Vivek Agnihotri, the director of the controversial movie The Kashmir Files on Tuesday again hit out at Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after Kashmiri separatist Yasin Malik pleaded guilty in a 2017 terror-related case on Tuesday.

“Calling them 'genocide deniers', the director questioned whether they will call the film 'Islamophobic and half-truth', even after Yasin Malik accepting charges.

Vivek Agnihotri also made a veiled attack on actor-turned-writer Twinkle Khanna for criticising the movie based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits.

"Dear star-wife, still wanna make nail-files?" Vivek Agnihotri wrote on his Twitter handle without naming Twinkle Khanna, who had earlier mocked the craze for The Kashmir Files in her column saying she would make a film about disastrous manicures and would name it 'Nail Files'.

"Finally, the justice will be done. This is the other side of the story. I am grateful to god to have helped me play a small role in getting justice for my brothers and sisters. I hope NOW Genocide Deniers will let us live in peace and let us heal," tweeted the director.

Separatist leader Mohammad Yasin Malik on Tuesday pleaded guilty to all the charges before a Delhi court in a case related to alleged terrorism and secessionist activities that disturbed the Kashmir valley in 2017, according to PTI report.

The Kashmir Files became the centre of controversy after BJP-ruled states declared the movie tax-free. The move was questioned by Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, who asked the makers of the movie to upload it on YouTube so that maximum people can watch it free.

The movie that ceated a stir in India was recently banned in Singapore by the country's InfoComm Media Development Authority on the grounds that it could disturb religious harmony.

Shashi Tharoor's comment on the ban on Tuesday sparked a fresh row. Tharoor responded to the remark made by filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri and veteran actor Anupam Kher for 'dragging' his late wife Sunanda Pushkar into the spar between the three over the movie - The Kashmir Files.

Irked by the Congress MP's tweet, the director-actor duo slammed the Tharoor and even spoke about his late wife. Responding to the remarks made by Agnihotri and Kher, Tharoor issued a statement and said that dragging his wife Sunanda into this matter was 'unwarranted' and 'contemptible'.  Tharoor said he never mocked and disparaged the sufferings of Kashmiri Pandits.
