Fuel Price Hike: TMC Leaders To Stage Sit-In Protest Against Rising Petrol, Diesel Prices On July 10-11

In West Bengal, Trinamool Congress will stage a sit-in protest on 10th and 11th July against the fuel price hike in the country. TMC leader Partha Chatterjee provided information on the protest.

In West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will stage a sit-in protest against the rising fuel prices in the country on July 10 and 11, following all the Covid-19 protocols. On Monday, TMC leader Partha Chatterjee gave more information about this. Chatterjee said, "Dharna demonstrations will be held in every block and city of West Bengal on July 10 and July 11 against the hike in fuel prices, following all the Covid-19 protocols." 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the extreme increase in prices is affecting the working-class population. Petrol and diesel prices have increased 8 times since May, of which 6 were in June only. Banerjee on Monday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reduce the tax imposed by the central government on petrol and diesel.

Mamta Banerjee wrote a letter to PM Modi

CM Mamta wrote in her letter that in many states of the country the price of petrol has crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark. Your government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel 8 times since 4th May 2021. The prices have been increased 6 times in June and 4 times in a week, it is shocking. The common people is the most affected and worried about dangerously rising prices of fuel. 

Mamta Banerjee accuses the government

He also said in a letter to PM Modi that from the year 2014-15, since his party came into power, the tax collection from oil and petroleum products have jumped by a staggering 370%. Showing sympathy towards the common people, the government of West Bengal has given a discount in the prices of both petrol and diesel. She alleged that in the midst of this Covid-19 pandemic, the Government of India has collected revenue of Rs 3.71 lakh crore from oil and petroleum products in the financial year 2020-21.
