The first batch of 382 Agniveers from two regiments took an oath to serve the nation after completing their 24-week-long army training in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district.

The first batch of 382 Agniveers from two regiments on Saturday completed their 24-week-long army training and took an oath to serve the nation in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh district, said an official statement. During a parade that took place at Harbaksh Singh drill square, 271 Agniveers were inducted into the Sikh Regimental Centre (SRC) of the Indian Army, as reported by news agency PTI. Another batch of 111 Agniveers was inducted into the Punjab Regimental Centre in a parade at Kalahari drill square.

The military training for Agniveers began on January 2 all over the country with an upgraded training methodology and infrastructure.

Over the past 24 weeks of military training, all the Agniveers achieved excellent physical standards, gained proficiency in handling different types of weapons and learnt basics of warfighting in various scenarios and terrain conditions, said the Sikh Regimental Centre in Ramgarh in an official statement.

An official said many specialists from sports, medicine and physiotherapy were deployed as pre-emptive measures to reduce stress during the training, reported the agency.

Commandant of the Sikh Regimental Centre Brigadier Shailesh Sati appreciated the Agniveers for their excellent turnout and synchronised drill movement. Sati said a high standard of training and discipline was instilled in the young soldiers.

He also praised instructors and staffers at the centre for their commitment to imparting top-quality training to the future soldiers of the Indian army.

Meanwhile, earlier on Saturday, the first batch of Agniveers of the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) were also attested in a befitting ceremony, said a defence spokesperson.

The grand ceremony took place at the JAKLI Regimental Centre and the programme started with a salute to the national flag, followed by oath-taking, parade review by the Commandant and piping of the Agniveers, reported PTI.

The defence spokesperson said, "The young boys have been transformed into confident, capable, smart, and proud soldiers and citizens”, as quoted by PTI.

In Patna also, the first batch of Agniveer soldiers took oath during the attestation and passing out Parade held at Gaur Drill Ground on Saturday.
