On Monday Indian and Chinese troops faced another standoff. According to the reports, both the Indian Army and People Liberation Army (PLA) fired in the air to scare and push back each other near Shenpao mountain, a region near the south bank of Pangong Tso (Lake) where forces of both sides are engaged in a military standoff.
Reports also said that the Chinese troops carried rods, spears, clubs and sharp weapons while trying to close in on Indian position. Later China said in a statement that the Indian Army "blatantly fired threats" to the patrol personnel of the Chinese border guards who had made representations, and the Chinese border guards were forced to take "countermeasures to stabilise the situation on the ground".
The latest attempts at incursion have happened after the Galwan Valley clashes in which 20 Indian Army personnel were killed.
